You know, i’ve thought of something that’s pretty cool. I’m surprised I haven’t seen much of this yet, but he’s the idea.

Let’s say that there is this hero who has a loving wife/girlfriend and is opposed to this villain (for simplicity’s sake she’s a female). An accident happens, and the Hero’s love interest fuses with the villain - creating a new character with the combined memories, personality, and appearance. This composite character would interact with the hero in various ways, for example she could act like a Tsundere-like character antagonizing our hero like the villain has before but have feeling towards him like his wife did.

Maybe they start off as enemies, but later become friends or lovers - maybe fueling the issue that they don’t want to unfuse at all. There is a lot that can be done with this, especially with the fusion process. Maybe she fused with the villain to ruin some great master plan, and now the Hero is dealing with the aftermath of some Bittersweet ending. There is the real possibility that the villainous side might take over, and losing a love one forever. Or maybe this new person has their own wants and needs, and wants to seek a completely new life. If the hero and this new person went on a date, lots of Tsundere tropes might pop up.

The one time i’ve seen this attempted is with Malachite from Steven Universe. Malachite is a fusion between 2 gems called Lapis and Jasper. Lapis is friendly with the show’s protagonist called Steven, while not romantically involved they do care for one another after Steven freed her and fixed her gem. Jasper, on the other hand, is a villainous gem from homeworld who antagonized Steven and his friends. To stop Jasper, Lapis fused with her and trapped the resulting creature in the depths of the ocean.

Of course, the show implies that despite the two minds initially being separate in this new body - they are slowly melting together overtime. We haven’t seen much of Malachite since her creation (save one or 2 scenes from the episode “Chille Tid”), but then Malachite does reappear it might be interesting. How will Malachite react to Steven? I doubt we’ll see some Tsundere tropes here, but Malachite as an individual might have a great internal struggle.

I might expand on this later, but what do you guys think? What could come from this idea? Have you seen this done somewhere else?

I think that you can do something really interesting with this idea!
